basket wicker or a cloth bag — never plastic knife a small folding one, kept clean field guide one you trust, with photos gloves for nettles and brambles
What you don't need
No special boots, no trowels, no apps that promise to identify a mushroom from one photo. Your eyes and a good book beat all of it.
